Kelly Harris

2005 to 2007

Kelly Harris is a Hudson Valley native, Harris most recently coached at Vassar. In 2005 she took over the program as the Red Foxes are coming off their most successful season yet, winning the program's first-ever New York State Championship Varsity Eight and Overall titles.

Most recently, Harris served as the assistant men's and women's rowing coach at Vassar College from 2002-2005. One of her most notable accomplishments was leading the Women's Freshman Eight to a fifth-place finish at the 2005 NY State Championships, the highest ranking in Vassar history for this event. In her first season at Vassar, Harris also led the Women's Second Varsity Eight to a first-ever qualification and 10th place finish in the 2003 ECAC Collegiate Championships.

A 2001 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Harris earned her bachelor's degree in wildlife management. Harris then served as an assistant from 2001-02 at UNH where she was primarily responsible for assisting with both the varsity and freshman women's squads. She helped lead the Second Varsity Eight to a first-place finish in the petite finals at the 2002 New England Championships.

During her athletic career at UNH, Harris was a four-year member and two-year co-captain of the team. Harris rowed to a gold medal win with the First Varsity Eight at the 1999 New England Championships, helping her team to the all-around Women's Points Trophy at ECAC's that same year.

Harris was invited to the 2001 East Coast Lightweight National Team Development Camp at Riverside Boat Club in Boston, MA and the Midwest Lightweight Development Camp at the University of Wisconsin in 2000. Also in 2001, Harris won the bronze medal in the collegiate lightweight category at the world-renowned CRASH-B Indoor Rowing Championships, and was named All-American Athlete by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

A native of Hyde Park, N.Y., Harris graduated from F.D. Roosevelt High School in 1997.
