Meyn was the freshman crew coach at Ithaca College for two seasons. His freshman crews finished first and second in the Dad Vail's in 1976 and 1977. Coming off his success in Ithaca, he was hired to replace Gary Caldwell as the Marist College Men's and Women's Crew Team Head Coach.
