2024 Head of the Charles Preview

See HOCR Preview Video and Details Below!

Hello Marist Alumni, Family and Friends,

Fall Racing has officially arrived and we’re shipping to Boston this weekend for the annual Head of the Charles Regatta, the largest 3 days regatta on the planet and a source of great competition and fun for Marist Crews past, present and future. As fate would have it, Marist was one of the earliest crews to compete at the Charles dating all the way back to its first running as a collegiate only race in 1965.

This year we’re excited to have 7 different crews racing down the Charles River over two days representing the current team and some of our alumni as well! Here’s everything you need to know in one place

WHERE TO GO?

Almost all Regatta Activity and some of the best viewing take place between the Elliot Bridge and the Finish line along Soldiers Field Rd on the Boston Side of the river in an area called FALS by the regatta in the Christian A Herter Park. The Trailer is usually parked in LOT 4 which is at the western end of this venue.

ALUMNI AND PARENT ACTIVITY:

We encourage all alumni and families who are interested in checking out the race to join us in Boston. There will be a lot of alumni activity on Saturday in the leadup to alumni racing and then during and after Women’s Team racing. After their morning race the alumni gather at the FALS Beer Garden which is located in the center of the FALS area roughly adjacent to the Paddle Boston Allston location seen at the link below. We encourage any and all Marist alumni, family and friends to join us there and cheer on our crews throughout the day. There are refreshments available at this location and it’s also a great location to watch the crews as they exit the final turns through Elliot Bridge and race towards the finish line! The weather is shaping up to be fabulous this year and it will be a fantastic year to catch some races and take in all the rowing scene!
